Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa

Is it the crowd favorite Briton guy? or the Brazillian Ferrari man?

But before we pick our guy, let me give you the facts that these two guys needing to conquer the 2008 F1 Driver’s Championship. 

The fact is, Lewis Hamilton is leading 7 points as of now to Brazillian guy Felipe Massa and we are now heading this weekend to the last GP. The sunday Brazillian GP will not only determine the driver of the year but the champion in Constructors as well.

Hamilton will be champion if:
- He finishes fifth or higher
- He finishes sixth and Massa is second or lower
- He finishes seventh and Massa is second or lower
- He finishes eighth and Massa is third or lower
- He fails to score and Massa is third or lower

Massa will be champion if:
- He wins and Hamilton finishes sixth or lower
- He finishes second and Hamilton is eighth or lower

If the pair are tied on points at the end of Sunday afternoon (which would happen is Massa wins with Hamilton sixth, or if Massa finishes second with Hamilton eighth), Massa would win the title by virtue of more victories (six to Hamilton’s five) or more second-place finishes (three to Hamilton’s two).

After his departure to McLaren last season due to conflicts his best decision now is to go back to his former team that gave him previous double world champions. Everyone is expecting that he will regain his world champion. But as the season 08 starts up to Monza, the Renault team is struggling to even take home the car to the chequered flag.

The goal became dull and it’s a story that no Fernando fan dares to tell.  Now, the great Fernando Alonso was considered as a midfield car driver. This is really an entirely different scenario. F1 fans were really disappointed of how his career turn out this season… 14 GP’s and Not even a single podium. Don’t blame the driver.

That’s why when I saw him receiving the trophy at the Singapore GP last weekend, I’m really touched of the kind of emotion that he showed in the crowd. It’s a joy like you found your lost son.

But as for the big boss of Renault, the victory of Fernando in last Sunday’s race doesn’t guarantee his stay in the team. I don’t have the buzz yet what team he is moving but one thing I’m sure it’s not the Red nor the Silver team.

After being down from a mistake in Canada , the crowd favorite British McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton came back with a vengeance. A back to back champion starting from his homeland Satander GP to German GP, which put him on top in the current driver standings. From zero to Hero as everybody says. Imagine leading the race leaving the rest of the pact for almost a lap! To be exact 65s! Just imagine what kind of driving he made. In addition to this, during the recent race a stunning performance he displayed during the last 10 laps of German GP. Felipe Massa is expected to conquer the podium since the McLaren team made an error not allowing Hamilton to checkin the pitstop while the safety car is on the track leaving him a bit of chance to survive. After his pitstop, the furious Hamilton is eating every quarter of a second of Massa in every round that made him closer with the Ferrari driver. At the 57^th lap, the Englishman pushed the Ferrari driver in the curve during the turn that placed him on the 2^nd spot. Then after couple of laps he made a brilliant move again passing the Renault driver conquering the chequered flag.

It’s true that all mistakes and error can be used as an added fuel to succeed and not to be considered as a storm in the road.

Of my 4 years watching F1 and somewhat a discreet fun of this so called Red Team (Ferrari’s)…I can’t help but noticed that during wet race they are not good as other team running in dry and wet condition. They becoming an instant midfield car. I thought before that the reason for this is because of the kind of tires their use.

For the past season every F1 team has a choice of what brand of tire they would use. Ferrari is using Bridgestone that time and until now. On the other hand, their top competitor (Renault and McLaren) are using Michelin. But just last year AFAIK, F1 drop MIchelin, meaning all teams will now use the same type of tire to make it a fair-play in regards to the performance and result of the race. Apparently, the result of today’s race (@Silverstone GP ‘2008 ) shows that they need to have a good strategy to answer the challenge. The two power house Ferrari’s were not even in the podium. Kimi finish 4th while Massa down to 13th.

They maybe bad at dry… but nowhere to go in a non-slick tire.

Is it the car or the imperfect driver?

I don’t know what kind of attitude would you throw if your almost in the brick of finishing the race and then just because of a slight disappointing circumstances you lost the chance of winning before your very eyes …

Few weeks ago, everyone in Manaco was surprised of what could have been a championship points for a rookie F1 team Force India. Adrian Sutil the driver of Force India is running perfectly on the 4th place almost the whole race, he is fighting with the two power house Ferrari’s. He prooved the possibility of scoring championship points for a car that is not even a midfield. At lap 67 of 78, a heart broken moment happened. Adrian Sutil was hit from behind by Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn ran into the VJM01 that had kept him at bay for so long, puncturing the rear tyre and damaging the rear suspension. Adrian returned to the pits to retire from his finest race performance to date. According to the investigation it was an accident. Kimi tried his best to avoid Adrian’s car apparently, the brake of the Ferrari car did not performed as expected to be. It was a devastating moment for Adrian. I saw him in the pit crying in anguish.

Also, in the same week…the celebrated Indy Car driver Danica Patrick suffered almost the same incident as Adrian Sutil experience. In her race at Indianapolis 500 her fellow driver Ryan Briscoe hit her car from the side going out the pit lane. It was a 92nd lap of 500 when the incident happened. Here it’s different, it was not an accident but a stupid mistake of Ryan Briscoe. Unaware Patrick was after his head and then just took off and the next thing they knew both of them retire from the race which made Danica furious.
